November 18, 2015

Its the festive season and we all love to endulge a llittle, I've got an easy sweet treat thats great to make for pop in guest, to take as a plate or as part of your christmas spread!

2/3 cups of warm milk

2 tsp yeast

Combine together and leave to ferment, while preparing the rest of ingredients.

3 1/2 cups of Plain Flour

1/2 cup of Sugar

3 Eggs (size 7)

7 tablespoons of Butter

Vegetable oil for deep frying

Brown Sugar, Icing Sugar or Cinnamon for dusting

Combine Flour, Sugar and Eggs together in a mixer and mix for 3 mins, then add the Butter and mix until combined.

Check the yeast mixture has fermented (You can tell this has happened if tiny bubbles have formed)

Slowly add yeast liquid to flour mixture while the machine is running.

Mix for 5 mins until the dough is smooth.

Cover and leave in the fridge overnight

Next day bring the dough to room temperature

Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness

Cut out 9 rounds (You can use a cookie cutter)

Leave to prove for another 1 hr or until it doubles in size.

Heat Vegetable oil to 170.c

2-3 mins on each side

Remove and sprinkle with icing sugar, cinnamon or brown sugar while hot and serve

Recommended: Try filling with Chocolate, Nutella, Berry Jam, or Fresh cream.
